International Festival of Contemporary Theatre Homo Novus and International Festival of Experimental Performing Arts Homo Alibi are organized by the New Theatre Institute of Latvia.

Homo Novus is a biannual theatre forum in Riga, which aims to present the most appreciated, as well as innovative and experimental artists and their works, to create a platform for learning, exchange, new initiatives focused on international collaboration. The festival is an essential part of Latvian performing arts scene as it is the only international theatre festival, which has contributed to development of new theatre and has raised new audiences loyal to contemporary art. During 7 festivals since 1995 Homo Novus has produced works by Vega Vaicunaite and Miraklis (Lithuania), Rimini Protokoll (Germany), Florian von Hoermann (Germany), Mariano Pensotti (Argentina) and young Latvian artists, and presented - among others - productions by Eimuntas Nekrosius, Oskaras Korshunovas, Peter Jalakas and Von Krahl, Kristian Smeds, Baktruppen, Cirkus Cirkor, Theatre.doc, Joan Le Gilerm and Cirque ici, Mal Pelo, BAD.co, Jonathan Burrows, Romeo Castellucci and Societas Raffaello Szancio, Rabih Mroue and Gob Squad.
The next edition of Homo Novus is planned in September 2009.

International Festival of Experimental Performing Arts Homo Alibi aims to notice and to develop unpopular or missing, still potentially significant issues in the performing arts in Latvia. In the frame of the festival lectures, workshops, public readings and other activities are organized.
